2008 brought our family to Florida. In January, Jeff got accepted at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. He starded school in August of that year, 1 week after our first son, Jackson, was born. For Jeff to be at school on time, he had to leave Utah the day after Jackson was born. We missed him so much for 2 weeks, but eventually left Utah ourselves and moved to our new home, Jacksonville, Florida, two weeks later.
In 2009, the Brown family started hitting its stride. We made lots of good friends out first year, including the Bradshaws, Calkins, Austins, Carsons, Lorzs, Pattons... so many that we can't even keep count. Playgroups spent visitng St. Augustine, the Jacksonville Zoo, and the beach, dinner groups, a spring-break trip to Hoosier land with the Barnhills and Oxford, OH to visit Jonathan and Jennifer made the time seem to fly by. Jeff started to get more involved in law school. After nervously trying out for the school's prestigous Moot Court team, he got the award for being the best Oral Advocate and continues to do well when asked to participate. In the summer of that year, we moved back to Utah so that Jeff could intern at a botique law firm. We were also able to have Jackson's first birthday party and attend my brother-in-law's, James, wedding. It was great to see old friends and family, but we quickly realized that Florida was home to our small family. In fall, Jeff became the president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society at the school. There were hard adjustments to make that year: living in a new State on the other side of the country, taking care of a baby, and dealing with Jeff being gone at school a lot. But we felt at home in Florida.
2010 brought even more significant changes to our family. In December of last year, we welcomed Samuel to our family, bringing our total to four. Jeff also got the oppotunity to internship in Washington, D.C., where he spent the whole summer working for an international trade law firm. I and Jackson went to Utah to visit the in-laws for a month, then flew back to D.C. just in time to spend the Fourth-of-July weekend with Jeff in our nation's capitol. It was amazing. I then went back to Jacksonville while Jeff finished his internship in D.C. In fall of that year, we were back together in Jacksonville and finished the year by having Samuel and spending Christmas with friends in Jacksonville, rather than going back to Utah like years past.
2011 is already proving to be just as adventerous as all the years past, and we can't wait to share our stories with y'all through this blog. I'll also relive in detail some of the adventures mentioned above. I look forward to making this blog, and hope you all enjoy reading it too!
